Our Story

Andrew has been a chef for over 30 years.  When his wife Julie could not find a commercially produced salsa that she liked, she asked Andrew to come up with his own recipe.  He has been making this salsa for family and friends for over 10 years.

In April of 2023 we decided to start commercially packaging our salsa in honor of our late son John David who passed away from brain cancer on January 30, 2022.  He was 15 years old.

John loved the ocean and we took many family vacations to Mexico.  We would introduce John as Juanito in Mexico.  It means Little John.  Our label is a watercolor from a picture of John walking on the beach when he was 5 years old dragging seaweed behind him.  The watercolor was painted by a good friend whom Julie has known since kindergarten.  In the painting John is dragging a string of hearts that go on forever.

Our hope is that this venture will become successful and we can soon use some of the proceeds to benefit 3Hopeful Hearts in Fort Collins and Children's Hospital Cancer Research in Denver.  3Hopeful Hearts is an organization that supports families after a child loss.  They have been an integral part of our grief journey after losing our son.

We hope you will try our salsa and truly enjoy its taste.  It is made fresh with love by the owners Andrew and Julie Dokoupil.  There are no added preservatives or sugars.  We always welcome feedback.
